Maintaining your trailer might be the only option in a hot market

There’s no doubt about it, the trailer market is on fire. A strong surge in orders in the later half of 2018 filled available slots for this year’s manufacturing. And just because you’re ready to add to your fleet doesn’t mean the OEMs are willing to accommodate your orders. There’s reluctance among OEMs to accept additional orders even in the face of increasing demand. The concern is uncertainty regarding material and component costs that makes long-term schedules a challenge.

It’s difficult to isolate a specific cause for the growing demand for trailers. With many factors contributing to this hot market including the rise of e-commerce, driver shortages and rising freight profitability, there doesn’t appear to be an easy option available.
There’s a lot of new business entering the market, which is increasing the interest in new equipment. At the same time, there’s not a surplus of used equipment inventory because the healthiness of the shipping climate is encouraging companies to add to their fleet operations.

That means that you may need to pay more attention to the equipment you already have. Fortunately, K.I.D. Truck & Trailer Service specializes in trailer and tanker maintenance and repair. Today’s Trucking has published a compelling article with tips on maintaining speciality trailers. You can read it here.
